Jason K. Robar
Jason K. Robar is writing War and Love, a multigenerational historical fiction saga
tracing one family across 140 years — from the ballrooms and battlefields of Napoleonic Prussia
to the American Midwest, through two world wars, and into the twentieth century.
The series began as a question about silence: why did so many German-American families stop
talking about where they came from? That question sent him into archives, ship manifests,
battlefield maps, and 200-year-old correspondence — and eventually into the lives of the
fictional Stephani family, whose story is entirely invented and stubbornly true.
Arc I, Dance of Nations (1805–1815), follows four interlocking lives through the
collapse of Napoleonic Prussia — a queen, a prince, a soldier, and a woman who refuses the
roles available to her. Book One is in manuscript. The complete series spans four arcs and
roughly 140 years.
